Valerio Cart: Hopp Valerio! Road to Durban 2026

Four heads and a sloth, 2,738 km from Cape Town via Hazyview to the Poetry Slam World Cup in Durban. Hazyview isn’t on the way; we’re going anyway. Whoever arrives first gets the stage. The others too, just later.

Valerio carries you on his back and runs. A bit of everything: if you can’t make up your mind, hop on.

Steers as sharp as a punchline, and downhill it catches everyone. Off the road you nearly fall off.

The golden e-walker with a horse’s head. Pulls away instantly, rides over any meadow and hardly ever gets knocked over. It just isn’t fast.

Bike with a trailer. Slow to get going, then rolls the fastest, and the trailer has room for two items.

The driving sofa with fringes, a lace doily and a rainbow umbrella. Steers at a leisurely pace, pushes everyone aside, and in the cushions a coffee lasts twice as long.

A ball pit on wheels. It bounces off hits and only loses a few balls. In corners it sloshes outward, and off the road it sinks in.

The motorhome, built in 1982. Hard to get moving and steers like a living room, but whoever gets in his way has to move aside. You drive on the roof; inside is already full.

The rainbow kick scooter. Two kicks and it rolls; it steers nimbly and does a tailwhip over every ramp. But it also weighs almost nothing: whoever bumps you pushes you away, and in the grass the little wheels get stuck.

The laptop on the TV shows the road; up to four phones on the same Wi-Fi steer.

All five in one ride, no opponents and no clock. The journey is the destination, especially when the destination is far away.

The race needs JavaScript. Without it, nobody gets going here.

The kart accelerates by itself. You steer with the arrows at bottom left; your thumb can slide back and forth between them. Drift and throw at bottom right. Hold it sideways to see more road.
